Ya mide 1,6 millones de kil\u00f3metros cuadrados, el equivalente a 3 veces el territorio de Francia, y est\u00e1 formada por unas 80 mil toneladas de pl\u00e1stico<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Corr\u00eda el a\u00f1o 1997 cuando el capit\u00e1n y ocean\u00f3grafo estadounidense Charles Moore se qued\u00f3 horrorizado al regresar con su velero de una c\u00e9lebre carrera n\u00e1utica en el oc\u00e9ano Pac\u00edfico.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mientras navegaba por el m\u00e1s grande oc\u00e9ano del planeta, Moore, se tropez\u00f3 con un mar de pl\u00e1stico tan extenso que tard\u00f3 siete d\u00edas en cruzarlo.
