Relat\u00f3 que un empresario de Santa Cruz, para quien trabaj\u00f3 como abogado en asuntos comerciales, le solicit\u00f3 su hoja de vida pocos d\u00edas antes de la elecci\u00f3n en la Asamblea Legislativa.Urioste indic\u00f3 que su nombre no figuraba entre los candidatos originales y que sigui\u00f3 la votaci\u00f3n hasta la tercera vuelta. Se\u00f1al\u00f3 que se fue a dormir y que cerca de las cuatro de la madrugada recibi\u00f3 llamadas de diputados conocidos que le consultaron si estaba siendo considerado. Tras cinco votaciones sin alcanzar dos tercios, su nombre emergi\u00f3 como alternativa y fue elegido. Atribuy\u00f3 su designaci\u00f3n a su trayectoria y a los 96 puntos obtenidos en el examen para magistrado del Tribunal Supremo de Justicia.El fiscal interino rechaz\u00f3 que hubiera existido pago o acuerdo para favorecer su elecci\u00f3n y asegur\u00f3 que el empresario no tiene vinculaci\u00f3n pol\u00edtica, aunque prefiri\u00f3 reservar su identidad y la empresa en la que trabaja.
