Mantener buses, trenes y telef\u00e9ricos demanda inversiones millonarias en infraestructura, renovaci\u00f3n de flotas, energ\u00eda, salarios, seguridad, seguros, tecnolog\u00eda y administraci\u00f3n. Ante ese d\u00e9ficit, los gobiernos intervienen. El objetivo es garantizar tarifas accesibles para estudiantes, trabajadores y sectores de bajos ingresos, y evitar el colapso del servicio. El modelo se replica en Am\u00e9rica Latina. En Argentina, los subsidios nacionales y de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires sostienen hist\u00f3ricamente subtes, trenes y colectivos, incluso los operados por privados. En Chile, el Estado financia al Metro de Santiago y destina recursos para ampliaciones y contenci\u00f3n tarifaria. En Brasil, el sistema combina operadores p\u00fablicos y privados, pero el gobierno aporta fondos clave para infraestructura. En Per\u00fa, el Metro de Lima fue construido con inversi\u00f3n p\u00fablica y el Estado mantiene compromisos financieros vigentes pese a la concesi\u00f3n.
